The North Pole
Sitting atop the world is a glacier many, many, many miles in circumference. The glacier itself is the accumulation of icefloes and earth plates that have converged around a massive mountain, Mount Polar. The massive mountain would be visible from space, as its summit is nearly 40,000 feet above the surrounding sea level. But it is by no means a thin spire projecting from the top of the world—Mount Polar is a very widely based mountain with many crags, ridges, and frozen waste basins. An intricate network of caves and tunnels is carved throughout the mountain, and (much like the Great Desert of Salarid) many species have made this harsh, horrible environment their homes. White dragons have many lairs across the frozen landmass, and cryohydras nest in the frozen basins. A massive colony of Frost Giants calls the Mountain their home. Plantlife is scarce, and what “greenery” is found here consists mostly of underground plants or carnivirous vegetation.
The subfreezing temperatures provide a death trap to the unprepared, but bold adventureres find instead a challenge worthy of testing their mettle. Indeed, all levels of adventurers can find something to do on (or inside/underneath) Mount Polar. The Adventurers Guild is literally the only humanoid establishment in the north pole—not even the Vurfu Human clans venture that far north hunting seals and whales.
